Corpus Christi College was founded in 1517 by Richard Fox, the Bishop of Winchester. The façade onto Merton Street is a three storey battlemented building with an assortment of two-light and one-light window - the third storey being a later addition. The Gate Tower overlooking Merton Street is decorated with niches to either side of the first floor Oriel window which lit the President's Lodgings. The Hall is to the east of this range, adjoining EmilyThomas Quad. The Emily Thomas Building on the north east corner of the College is a two storey Grade II listed building by T.H. Hughes.
